Googleโ€™s Android operating system hides eight littleโ€‘known features that many users never discover, according to Android Authority, and those tricks are keeping people glued to their phones. The list was published on Tuesday and includes shortcuts for battery health, privacy settings, and app management that arenโ€™t advertised in Googleโ€™s marketing. The article says the features are built into the system but are buried deep in menus, meaning most owners never see them.

The revelation matters because Android faces stiff competition from Appleโ€™s iPhone, which markets its own hidden tricks more openly. The โ€œApp Actionsโ€ shortcut can automatically suggest frequently used apps on the lock screen, while the โ€œScreen Timeโ€ dashboard offers a hidden view of daily usage broken down by category. Android Authority notes that these tools are accessible through a series of taps in Settings โ†’ System โ†’ Advanced, a path most users never explore.

Google has not commented on why the features are hidden, but the company may start surfacing them more prominently in future updates. Tech writers suggest that making these tools easier to find could improve user satisfaction and reduce churn. Meanwhile, Android enthusiasts are already sharing stepโ€‘byโ€‘step guides on social media, hoping the tricks will spread beyond the niche community.
