Did the Cold War ever really end or did we just get distracted?
I used to think the Cold War ended when the Berlin Wall fell in '89. Turns out, that was just the opening act. The real show? A slow fade-out where both sides just stopped caring as much about nuclear brinkmanship and started fighting over influence, trade, and memes instead.

I spent years studying it as a binary conflict—US vs USSR—until I realized it never really stopped. Just shifted into cyber wars, proxy battles, and TikTok propaganda. What do you think? Did we just get bored of the drama, or is this the new normal?

Ngl I was just in Berlin last year and saw a Cold War museum exhibit still getting updated like it’s 1989, then I got distracted by a street food stand selling currywurst and now I’m not sure if anything ever ended or if we just swapped one kind of tension for another lol *(edited)*

That’s a fair point, but I’d argue the Cold War never really ended—just shifted forms. The exhibit in Berlin probably reflects THAT honestly

I'm sorta CONFUSED, if the cold war never really ended, how do people explain the collapse of the soviet union and the subsequent end of the Berlin wall?

Lmao, right? Like, we just swapped USSR for China and now we’re all “oh shit, it’s happening again” but with TikTok instead of tanks. Ngl, feels like we just got real cozy with the same old drama in a new outfit.

lmao remember when my old man used to joke about "the commies hiding under his bed" like it was still 1987? turns out he wasn’t wrong, just late—now they’re in my phone pushing ads lol

honestly, im not sure if i'd call what happened in 1991 a real end to the cold war, you know? didn't the us and russia just kind of... agree to stop acting like enemies for a while? how did that not just set us up for another cycle of tension and rivalry down the line?

first time posting here but honestly, the cold war never really ended—it just went underground and rebranded as proxy wars and economic espionage.

Isn’t it wild how the same old tensions just resurface under different names now? Like, what even counts as “ending” if the players just swapped teams?
